My name is Sofia, and I’m a student at NJIT studying Biology and Mathematics. I have a passion for environmental justice and sustainability, and believe that meaningful change is rooted in community involvement and connection.

As a lifelong scout, I developed a deep appreciation for nature from an early age and had many opportunities for growth under the guidance of older scouts in my community. These early experiences inspired me to become a mentor for others, whether through tutoring students in math, leading youth art workshops at my local library, or supporting young dancers at summer camp.

I look forward to my time as a Radical Educator Apprentice to connect with and uplift youth in my community, and I am eager to work with other leaders to bring about meaningful change in Newark and beyond."
