Dr. Suffiyah Webb

Board Member

Dr. Suffiyah Webb is a woman on a mission. She is a board certified pediatric dentist,
a dental surgeon, sits on New Jersey’s Public Health Council, an assistant professor,
and the founder of Brilliant Smiles Pediatric Dentistry (Brilliant Smiles). A Newark
native, her passion for serving the community led her to opening the practice, as a
new mom, with the goals of providing high-quality care, integrating her love of the
arts, and ensuring kids leave her office with a positive experience. Despite the
COVID-19 public health emergency forcing her to temporarily close the doors of
Brilliant Smiles just a month after opening it, the practice has grown tremendously
since its founding.
With a rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars on Google, the success of Brilliant Smiles is rooted
in Dr. Webb’s unique business model, which is shaped by her background and lived
experience. After the unfortunate loss of her parents, Dr. Webb was raised by her
grandparents who instilled in her a commitment to community and excellence.
Additionally, having worked as a dentist in the Newark Public Schools, Dr. Webb saw
firsthand the health disparities and urgent need to increase access to high-quality
dental and medical care for Newark youth. To this end, Brilliant Smiles focuses on
dental care and total body wellness.
Unlike the typical visit a lot of children dread, Dr. Webb has also prioritized creating
an experience that children enjoy. She believes going to the dentist should be
accessible and fun. Her space was designed to be warm and welcoming and is filled
with vibrant fine art from the community and abroad to support trauma-informed
care and to increase the exposure of her young patients.
In addition to her practice, Dr. Webb serves on the faculty of Newark Beth Israel
Medical Center, the hospital where she was born. She is also a pediatric dentist in
conjunction with The Leaguers, her school-based oral health program providing
exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and oral health report cards.
Dr. Webb received a Bachelor of Science degree from Montclair State University.
Following dental school at Howard University, she earned a Master of Public Health
from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, while completing her
General Practice Residency at Newark Beth Israel. She received specialty training in
pediatric dentistry from Howard University during her post-doctoral pediatric

training. In 2012, she was the recipient of the prestigious Dr. Bessie Delaney
Scholarship, which is awarded annually to one outstanding graduate student.
